Speaking of Beckett...wtf happened to him? He was 1A/1B with Doc for the CY before he started giving up meatballs in mid-late August. He had arguably one of the best 3 month periods for any SP in baseball this year (May-July).

May: 3-0 - 2.38
June: 4-1 - 1.51 (1CG)
July: 3-1 - 3.35 (2 CG)

Yeah his 3-1 3.335 in July was awesome. He faced one good hitting team and lost.

Baltimore 7ip 5er ND
Oakland 6.2ip 2er W
KC 9ip 0er W

Mass Envelope in the Boston Park League is better offensively than all those teams except Texas.

Against The Yankees, Angels and Phillies including the playoffs he was 2-4 with 3 ND. He threw 59 innings and gave up 36 earned runs. For those who can't do the math that is a 5.45era.

Bye Bye bye!

Why don't you look at his June opponents and figure out another way to say his 3 months weren't great.

June...

@DET - Win
NYY - Win
@Phil - Loss
ATL - Win
@ATL - Win

Seriously Ron, you love to be "that guy" and spout off and debate EVERYTHING anyone has to say. My original post was about what people thought could have been wrong with Beckett. And you post some BS about Beckett's opponents in July.

Do you honestly think he wasn't on pace to win the CY before he crapped himself in August? It was a 2 man race between Doc and Beckett.

Ronnie has hated Beckett since the start. Taking anything he has to say on the topic is ridiculous.

You really think the Royals would trade Greinke for a guy who is going to be a FA after this season?

Beckett had a WHIP of 1.19 this year (same as last year, and only .05 more than 2 years ago when he went 20-7). He pitched the most innings and strikeouts than any other year here. Not to mention he has some of the best stats for any SP in postseason history.

Contract year = You are high if you think he should be traded.

Sorry, read that wrong. You mean the guy that was 1-5 in July/mid-Aug? I could pull up several articles from the guys that vote on CY in Aug. when most thought it was Beckett's to lose after Doc lost 3-4 straight games and went on the DL. Greinke is deserving, especially after he went 5-0 down the stretch. BUT, if Beckett keeps pitching like he was for those 3 months than he is the clear cut favorite IMO.

BTW Internet Dumbass,

he's 7-3 with a 3.08 era in 14 appearances in the post season. Hardly the best ever by a starting pitcher

Sick logic. Too fucking bad the Cy Young wasn't given on Memorial Day. beckett would have 3 or 4 by now.
