Florida Father Of The Year Left His 3 Kids in the Car While He Drank At a Bar For 4 Hours
NYDN – A Florida father was knocked unconscious after he left his three children locked inside a car while he drank at a bar for four hours. Joshua Keith Delong, 28, parked his vehicle at a bar named Dr. B’s in Ocala while his three children, ages 5, 7 and 8, remained in the car Wednesday night. He then drank at the business for four hours, according to the Ocala Police Department. Finally, the children honked the horn and screamed “Daddy!” Someone went inside to get Delong, police said. He tried to drive away but security detained him until officers arrived, police said. It was then that unknown people struck Delong, knocking him unconscious, police said. The suspect was treated for his injuries and denied to officers he brought the children to the bar, police said. An employee at Dr. B’s declined to comment to the Daily News on Thursday. Delong was charged with three counts of child neglect and transported to Marion County jail on $6,000 bail, records show. He had been booked at the jail five other times for charges including battery, burglary, theft, drug possession, parole violations and criminal mischief, according to the Marion County Sherriff’s Office.
What, should he not have done that? Where is that written in the parenting manual? If it’s not written down, how was he supposed to know you’re not supposed to lock your kids in the car, get hammered at the bar, and then drive home? It’s a hard knock life out there for a father of 3. You think you’re doing something right, and next thing you know, you’re being punched in the face for trying to take care of your kids. And do you know how much babysitters cost? I don’t know either, but I assume they are expensive. And I doubt it’s even safer to just leave your kids at home with a slightly bigger child than it is to bring them with you to the bar. Kids nowadays have all their gizmos and Game Gears to entertain themselves anyway, I bet they didn’t even care they were in the car.
