Been a big Carolina fan since my dad took me to the Tip-Off Classic waaay back in the day. They lost to St. John's but I was hooked. Watched as many Heels game as anyone since.

That first half was the worst half of Carolina basketball I've ever seen. Not sure what the hell happened. Fuck. I think Hansbrough played alright; he sure didn't get a lot of help. That was a level 5 fuckin meltdown.

BanChixFromFenway, Apr 05 2008, 11:14 pm

Johnb, did you lay off the sauce tonight?

CptKangarooBalls, Apr 05 2008, 11:15 pm

ROCK CHOCK JAYHAWK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

flatlander, Apr 05 2008, 11:23 pm

Roy Williams - who's your daddy!!

Basketball - 3 losses; Football only 1...

Lugo.............. TRUE STORY!!

flatlander, Apr 05 2008, 11:25 pm

yep, I wanted to witness the destruction of Carolina and savor every devastating blow.

Caps! AO in the playoffs!!!

johnb1222, Apr 05 2008, 11:28 pm

Roy, beat by the University he abandoned. Karma is a bitch some times.

johnb1222, Apr 05 2008, 11:30 pm

You clowns do know that Roy Williams already won a championship in 2005, right? Idiots.

Terpskins99, Apr 06 2008, 12:04 am

Terps you do realize he won it with the roster that Matt Doherty recruited, right. Williams has still not won a title with his players and HIS teams always seem to come up short. Check back in when Huckleberry Hound does it with his players.

CStudio, Apr 06 2008, 12:30 am

Felton, May, and McCants were Doherty's guys, but don't forget Marvin Williams, a Roy Williams guy. He was huge for that team, arguably the best 6th man in the country in 04-05. Those 3 guys graduated and all Roy did the next year was win coach of the year. He hasn't been at Carolina long enough to get enough of "his" guys and win a National championship with those guys.

Rajon Rondo, Apr 06 2008, 12:56 am

Coach "Doh" may have recruited Felton, May, and McCants, then proceeded to put up an 8-20 season with them.

Mr. X, Apr 06 2008, 1:37 am

all i know is that the memphis tigers might win the award for "most tattoos by a championship team" if they can beat those jayhawks on monday....definitely should be a good one

Frank Viola, Apr 06 2008, 2:43 am

does everyone forget that the players, mccants especially, abandoned doherty and got him fired from the job? they stopped playing, had an awful season, and got williams and decided to play like they could/should have.

and if marvin williams was so good how come he coulfn't beat out david fuckin noel for the job???

dwalter715, Apr 06 2008, 4:31 am

hey BanChixFromFenway

your a tool

carolina sucks!

you know roy always chokes in big games, hence the 'That first half was the worst half of Carolina basketball I've ever seen'

decaydr, Apr 06 2008, 8:52 am

UNC laid a first-half egg against lowly Boston College, too. So everyone should have known they're a team that feels it can 'show up' in the second-half & 'git 'er done.' There was no 'git 'er done' last night. That picture of Hansbrough is mint. Looks like he has a toothache.

Shamrock1957, Apr 06 2008, 8:57 am

Rondo, last time I checked Roy was at Kanasas long enough to have his own guys multiple times over and never won a National Championship there. If they hit some free throws against Syracuse they would have won that one, but the team - like their coach so many times - choked.

His team got blitzed last year in overtime by Georgetown with the right to go to the Final Four and Williams just sat there never calling a timeout to get his players to regroup until it was too late.

Oh, and Roy won the coach of the year the year after McCants and Company left thanks to the freshman year of the guy this string is supposed to be making fun of. His 17 points last night were good for second on the team, a team high 9 rebounds (6 of them offensive), 1 assist and 2 steals and at least 3 charges taken. Not his typical game but given what the rest of the team did it was very good. You have to pin this one on Roy for not having his team prepared.

CStudio, Apr 06 2008, 10:13 am

decaydr - they won the title 3 years ago with Roy coaching... how'd that happen? I never buy the "other coach's players" thing either. Doh nearly sunk that program WITH apparently pretty good players. Roy came in and made winners out of them immediately.

Anyway, I understand that when my teams lose I take a few shots in the forum. That's life.

BanChixFromFenway, Apr 06 2008, 10:59 am

Can't pin this one on Roy, NC had absolutely no energy early in the game and Kansas looked like the best team in the world. Sorry, if your team comes out that flat in the final 4, that is not on the coach. He can't make his players run faster or get back on defense faster.

Rajon Rondo, Apr 06 2008, 11:42 am

Memphis in a runaway for the Ship.

Who gives a fuck about the loser tar heels. They are cooling their heels now all right.

There is only one Tyler worth talking about, Tyler Derden.

johnb1222, Apr 06 2008, 1:45 pm

All week all day they said UNC would run away with it. Hansborough is a girl with his little 18 point adventure last ngith. kid is a bitch. he is goign to get ruined in the NBA> next michael olakandi.

jeffgf84, Apr 06 2008, 2:04 pm

How about instead of bashing Carolina someone gives a little credit to the Jayhawks and Self? They played perfect basketball for the first 17:00 and deserved to win that game.

Being a life-long UNC fan, it was tough to watch, but much easier to take than the Georgetown game last year. That was a meltdown. This team just got outplayed from the get-go, it got in their heads and they made stupid mistakes for the rest of the game.

Show some fucking class, Portnoy. Hansbrough is a good kid, a heck of a college basketball player, and he gave it his all last night. It's not always the most talented team that gets it done in crunch time. Sometimes you just get outplayed by a team that wants it more. NE fans, of all people, should realize this.

dang man every1 hatin on carolina tlkin bout last nites game when most of yall's teams didnt even come close as carolina and most of yall lost 2 sum bad teams; but all i can say bout last nites game is tht kanas must have wanted a championship more than carolina

ej22, Apr 06 2008, 4:01 pm

Hey Mr. X, Doherty did not go 8-20 with the Felton, May, McCants trio, they arrived on campus the next year and went 19-16 as freshman to get Matt fired.

Johnny Law, Apr 06 2008, 10:33 pm

Bruins Make Playoffs: Still Get No Respect

From B's Blogger Rear Admiral

r

Is NESN shitting me? They'll put Game One in HD then go on a game by game basis? Are you fucking kidding me? A playoff game vs. the 10th game of the Sox season? Horseshit.

Here's their gutless statement:

With the help of our affiliates, both games will be distributed throughout New England so almost every fan will have the opportunity to watch both the Red Sox game on NESN and Bruins game on NESNplus channels at the same time. As you may know, the delivery of an HD signal takes up an enormous amount of satellite bandwidth. At this point it's not technically possible for us to deliver two HD broadcasts at the same time. If the Bruins make the playoffs, we will certainly face more conflicts. At this time, we are committed to broadcasting game one of the first round on NESN in HD. Once the playoff schedule is finalized we will make the remaining determinations on a game by game basis. As we normally do on the night of a Bruins game, NESN will air a 2-hour "Bruins in 2" rebroadcast of the Bruins at Ottawa game tonight at midnight.

As much as I don't care about the Bruins I totally agree with Rear Admiral on this one. Bruins Playoff hockey has to take precedence over early season Red Sox baseball. It just has to. And won't everybody be watching the B's anyways? I don't care if the NHL sucks or not. It's still a major sport and it's still a Boston team in the playoffs.
