TJ Oshie Described His Pain He Plays Through As So Bad He Has To Lay On The Floor "Peeing in water bottles"

Yesterday I blogged about how Sunday night's game vs the Rangers was possibly TJ Oshie's final game. I think you should read the blog linked above, but the point is Oshie has been the heart beat of this team for the last 10 years. He's played through so much pain and has made himself a vital part of Caps culture and the DC hockey community. Nobody ever has had a bad thing to say about him. So when I saw the video of him being the last player off the ice, it was hard not to get emotional thinking he was leaving it as a pro for the last time.

Now fast-forward to today, Oshie spoke to the media and didn't mince words when explaining just how bad his back injury has gotten:

Jimminy Crickets! 77 has given everything to Washington. So if Sunday was his final game, my god, does he deserve the most peaceful retirement ever. I mean knowing him he won't retire ever- he'll be back on the ice in some capacity soon, but he deserves to play a round of golf every day without worrying about if he will be laying on the floor pissing in bottles.

While I will personally build him the statue, the question truly will be if the Caps retire his number. Which by the way, the Caps are SO WEIRD about doing. For some reason Bondra and Kolzig still don't have their numbers in the rafters. And from this generation of players, Ovi, Backstrom, and Carlson are locks to have their numbers retired, and I think Oshie should as well. (People will make an argument for Holtby but I don't think so.)

If Oshie chooses to retire he has earned it, deserves it, and will always be a legend in Washington.
