Bold Strategy: TikTok Says in Its Suit Against the U.S. Government That China Wouldn't Allow a Divestment, Which Was Kinda the Entire Point of the Ban

Now I'm not an attorney, but I would have guessed that making your opponent's case for them would have been at the top of the list of things you don't want to do when filing a lawsuit. And yet, TikTok says in its suit against the U.S. government that it couldn't divest even if it wanted to because China wouldn't allow it to do so. But please remember that TikTok is definitely not controlled by the Chinese Communist Party.

I'm very conflicted on this whole ordeal. On one hand, I absolutely recognize that TikTok is a thinly veiled Chinese spy weapon that's collecting unfathomable amounts of information on millions of Americans. And if it was something I didn't use regularly, I'd be shouting from the rooftops to ban it immediately. But I'm unfortunately addicted to it despite all that, so I wouldn't be overly upset if it found a way to stick around.

If even TikTok is telling us it's doing the bidding of the Chinese government, though, maybe we should listen. I can't wait to see the reaction of a federal judge to this line of reasoning from TikTok. Kudos for being honest, I guess.
