Headlines

-The seat in which Rex Ryan sits is becoming hotter by the minute. The Buffalo Bills axed offensive coordinator Greg Roman after their Week 2 loss and, in all honesty, he was a scapegoat. The Bills defense continues to flounder despite both Ryan brothers supposedly being defensive masterminds. With the firings already beginning, Ryan is the overwhelming favorite to be the first NFL head coach fired this season: http://www.oddsshark.com/nfl/nfl-head-coach-be-fired-betting-odds.

-Do two games in the NFL season really make that much of a difference? Does an 0-2 start doom your team with 14 games remaining to rebound? Since 2007, 75 teams have started 0-2. Only seven (9.3%) of them turned it around to make the playoffs and one of those (the 2008 Chargers) made it with an 8-8 record: http://www.oddsshark.com/nfl/stats-2-0-teams-and-0-2-teams.

-After outscoring 89 schools himself through just three weeks of play, Lamar Jackson has become the odds-on fave to win the Heisman Trophy. The Louisville quarterback has already recorded 1377 yards and 18 touchdowns, bumping his odds up to -200.http://www.oddsshark.com/ncaaf/odds-win-heisman-trophbuy

PICKS

Middle Tennessee State -5

Big disparity here with LA Tech allowing 330.5 passing yards a game. Middle Tennessee State airing the hell out of it racking up 338.5 through the air a game. As good as they are at throwing it, MTSU can defend it nearly as well, allowing the nation’s 4th fewest allowed at just 121 per game. LA Tech has a respectable pass game, but I expect they cannot match MTSU point for point and I like MTSU fairly comfortably 34-20.
