Chris Tillman "Did Not Have A Good Work Day" And Will Likely Skip His Next Start, I'm Now 150% Worried.
The news we have all been dreading, Chris Tillman’s shoulder is still not 100%. You could tell after his disgusting outing on Saturday night, 6 H, 6 R, and 5 BB in 2 IP. He had no control, his velocity was down, you knew something was up and he was not feeling it. After the game he said he had normal soreness and felt okay, well it’s clear that it wasn’t the truth because he will be examined by Dr. Leigh Ann Curl. According to Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun, Buck Showalter did not like what he heard from the pitching coaches.
I did some research, and it looks like Dr. Leigh Ann Curl is a specialist of keen, clavicle, meniscus, hamstring, and rotator cuff repairs. Fantastic.
Just an all around shitty situation with a guy having a career year. Looked like he would easily get 20 wins, and now he and the Orioles season may be in jeopardy. As I said last week when I first said I was worried about his shoulder, the O’s just don’t have the depth in the rotation, or the farm system to have someone come in and step up to take Tillman’s spot if he is out long-term. With only a few weeks left in the season, this isn’t ideal, and hopefully it can be fixed without surgery, but we have been down this road with Orioles pitchers before.
I think it is all but certain that Tillman will miss his next start on Thursday against the Nationals, but we need to look big picture here and see if he will be shut down for the rest of the year. Time to see if there are any pitchers dumpster diving Dan can try and pickup. Give me some good news Dr. Curl.
