Haloti Ngata Has Reportedly Been Traded To The Detroit Lions For A 4th And 5th Round Pick

Still waiting on word on what picks they received, but this had to be done. A tough decision to let go one of the more popular players in franchise history, but that’s the cap bind that Ozzie Newsome is in. There’s just no room for a defensive tackle to be making $16 million on this team (bigger cap number than Flacco for all you fucking morons out there). They tried and tried and tried to negotiate with him and restructure his deal, but he just wouldn’t budge. Classic Ngata.
The Ravens were down to only about $1.5 million in cap space heading into the 4 o’clock deadline. I was fearful that we would see Haloti get cut before the 4 o’clock deadline, so to get that cap space AND get anything on top of that is a big plus. For Rappoport here to suggest it might be MULTIPLE picks, then we just flat out robbed Detroit. Ngata’s on the wrong side of 30 and they had all the leverage in the world. Complete steal for Ozzie. So while I’ll miss the big fella, I know that this move made the Ravens a better football team.
