Tennis Player and Lingerie Model Camila Giorgi Shocks The Sport As She's Quietly Retired Without Any Formal Announcement

You may have seen the name Camila Giorgi on this website before and that's because she's the Shohei Ohtani of tennis. The 32 year old doubles as both a professional tennis player, frequently ranked inside the top 50, and a professional lingerie model. You want to talk talent? This is talent.

For years it's been a joy to watch her do her thing, occasionally challenging the world's best on the tennis court, while also showing off her beauty on the interwebs. During her playing career she'd amassed four titles, reached the quarters of Wimbledon, risen to as high as 26th in the world. On the Instagram front she'd been seen posting her model life while battling the incel trolls who would tell her she should be ashamed of herself for exposing her body like she does. To her credit, she just ignored all the haters and pushed along as her career progressed.

Well, as a big tournament in Rome got going this week, a few people flocked to the ITIA website and noticed out of absolutely nowhere Giorgi had retired. Now she hadn't played match this year and saw her ranking drop outside the top 100, but no formal announcement at all?? A silent retirement!

Honestly I respect it. Would she be getting a retirement tour like we're seeing with Rafa Nadal? Of course not, but she's had some success in her career and become a name to know. You'd think maybe she'd finish her career here at Rome and leave to a standing ovation of some sort by her home crowd. Nope, it's curtains for Giorgi as she likely sets her sights to being a full-time model. Kinda fitting for her based off this clip. It was always more a hobby to her.

All we can do is thank her for her tennis moments and wish her the best in the retirement game. I think she's going to do just fine.
