We Finally Have Some Details On The New Series Of 'The Office' - Picked Up By Peacock, Going To Follow A Failing Newspaper In The Midwest
First off, they gotta call this something else. I know it's in the same world as The Office, but you can't call it The Office reboot or something like that. Everyone is just going to talk about how the new boss isn't as good as Michael Scott. Everyone is just going to talk about how it's not as good as the original - true or not. It's basically just going to be how everyone talks about The Office after Michael leaves.
Second, a failing newspaper in the Midwest you say? I know just the storyline to follow.

What's the point of basing this in the Midwest if we can't get a couple lines making fun of someone like Gregg Doyel being a complete weirdo?
Here's what we know about it:
“The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.”
It was also previously reported that Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore will lead the new ensemble cast, though exact character details remain under wraps. Production is scheduled to begin in July.
So not a lot! Good news is I already saw people on Twitter (I know, I know) pissed off because of 'volunteer reporters.' It's a show people. It's a show. I still think they needed to have one of the secondary characters be in an important role here. But I do wonder since it's a newspaper company if we'll get ties back to Dunder Mifflin. Seems like a no-brainer.
Look, I know people are going to hate this no matter what. It's how the world works when something gets a reboot or new iteration. Maybe it's good, the premise is there and it's not like The Office was the first and last TV show to be based around a workplace. Just make it funny and people will watch.
That's really all it comes down to for me. If it's funny and fine to watch for 30 minutes, it'll go on the TV. Simple thought process, but call me crazy, with a sitcom that's all you really should want. It's not going to be The Office, that's fine, very few shows are.
