I'm Pretty Sure Coach K Essentially Just Called Zion Too Fat To Play Summer League

[Forbes] - “No, I thought really he never should’ve played just because he’s been on this circuit of awards, the ESPYs, everything,” Mike Krzyzewski told me at the Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C., where he’s recruiting this week. “I don’t think he’s in the playing shape or the mental shape to play.”

This is just the polite way of K saying he thought Zion was too fat to play Summer League, right? I mean that’s what he’s going for here. ‘He’s not in playing shape.’ This is a guy that had his college season end in March and you’re telling me he didn’t work out once from there until July?

Makes sense why he was able to push Kevin Knox out of the way. He was too fat for Knox to hear him coming and hang on to the ball. That’s my excuse here

Or is this K trying to sabotage a bad performance? This is K’s way of protecting Zion from playing just one half of Summer League? I mean, I can’t recall Calipari ever saying something negative about his former players. He’s consistently propping them up and reminding everyone how great they are. Never saying they are out of shape.

This just makes me happy the Knicks got RJ Barrett. I don’t hear anything about him being too out of shape to play Summer League. Only thing I saw was Rone saying he’s destined to stink. I’m not going to yell at Rone because I’m terrified of what he’d do to me in a roasting session, so I’ll politely tell him he’s wrong.

Phew, feels good to see that.
