"Is This Live?" - Awkward Interview With Matteo Berrettini Fuels Fire To Alleged Rumors Between His Ex And Fellow Italian Tennis Player Lorenzo Musetti

If there's one thing tennis delivers it's some whacky off the court drama when we least expect it. For example, a couple weeks ago fan favorite Gael Monfils abruptly retired from the sport, just days before he was set to play the final tournament of his career in Paris. Turns out his wife, fellow tennis player Elina Svitolina, was divorcing him, citing the Russia-Ukraine war as a factor. Madness. The timing of all that was insane, especially with them both parents now. No one knows what actually went down, but it feels like a pretty shitty situation for Monfils. He deserved a true swan song in front of the French home crowd and instead is too emotionally crushed to finish his career.

On top of that, there have been some rumors around the tour of some tomfoolery regarding the Italian men. Former world no, 5 Lorenzo Musetti had been rumored online to have messed around with fellow Italian Matteo Berrettini's now ex-girlfriend, Italian dancer Vanessa Bellini.

The ensuing rumors…

Matteo's ex has denied any wrong doing here in terms of an actual affair.

As of a few days ago these were just rumors, but an awkward on-court interview with Berrettini on Monday poured all the gasoline on the fire. Pretty clear he does not care for Musetti one bit.

First of all, that reporter knew exactly what he was doing. That was some Little Finger bullshit knowing exactly what he was alluding to and trying to pry from. Matteo asked if they were live likely because if they weren't I'm sure he was going to ask them to skip the question. Instead he had to say something and said a lot without saying much at all. Him laughing to himself probably envisioning Musetti's head on a stick said it all. These guys used to be pals keep in mind.

It's worth noting Musetti has two kids with his partner Veronica.

As part of all this, Musetti's brother-in-law recently joined the team, adding to the suspicion of something odd going on.

Obviously everything is alleged and a rumor right now. No one knows exactly what happened and if certain people were together at the time, but man is this messy. Even better, these two were supposed to be teammates next month at the Davis Cup, which is tennis' version of the World Cup. Funny enough, it was announced yesterday that Berrettini was going to be left off the roster. Hmmm wonder why. Tennis drama, nothing like it.
