Blocked Punts, 15-Point 4th Quarter Comeback, Game Ending DOINK – We Had Some Grade-A #MACtion Last Night Between Buffalo and Miami (OH)
One thing I have ALWAYS said I appreciate about the MAC is that they don't let a silly little election get in the way of a Tuesday night barnburner. The NBA might take the night off, but the MAC has worked too hard to make Tuesday nights in November their own. The fans need it. Election night can be rough for 50% of the country, but 100% of the country knows that no matter what happens, MAC football will be on ESPN (and ESPN2) when you get sick and tired of the political teleprompter guy giving you bad news. Or if you want to celebrate good news. MAC football is like hard liquor. It can be used for both.
Speaking of a blue wave, how about the Buffalo Bulls in the 4th quarter last night? The Miami Redhawks were in control all night long. Freshman WR Scoop Smith, who's listed at all of 5-foot-5, 150 pounds, was scooping up blocked punts in the end zone.
With 12 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Scoop scored again on an end around to give the Redhawks a 15-point lead.
Everything was coming up Miami (OH). Yager Stadium was buzzing. They had Buffalo QB Jason Wright in hell. He was throwing S-tier MAC-quality interceptions.

Then everything changed. The pundits tried to call Oxford for the Redhawks, but Jason Wright refused to… idk, get out of line? Had an absentee ballot yet to be counted? Sorry, I was trying to get in one more voting reference in there. Didn't quite land it.
Anywasy… Jason Wright brought the blue team all the way back. He went 358 yards. Accounted for 4 TD's (2 passing, 2 rushing). Half his TD's and over half his yardage went to WR Chance Morrow. How about this Chance Morrow guy? He's a 4th-year senior, in his 4th year at Buffalo. Something that's becoming increasingly rare by the minute. Last night he went for 199 yards and 2 TD's on 12 catches. That's 21% of his career yardage (937) coming on one Tuesday night in November. That's why you spend 4 years in the MAC. Spend four years in the MAC, and eventually you'll be WR1 by attrition. In your senior season, you'll finally make the two best highlight-reel TD catches of your life. With a 2-point conversion to boot.

With 5 minutes left, Buffalo got the ball back one more time. Jason Wright marched them right down the field, punched in the tying touchdown, and sent the game to overtime.
To top it all off, what's the most electric way a college football game can end? Well, I guess the answer to that question would probably involve more than one overtime. Or a Hail Mary. But a good hard DOINK high off the upright is pretty good too. There's something especially Mid-American Conference about ending a game on a doink.
That's #MACtion baby. That's what Tuesday nights in November are all about. Also Wednesday nights. If you thought last night was electrifying, well, tonight the Toledo Rockets travel 2,000 miles west to play Sacramento State at 4 PM PST. In case you forgot, Sacramento State is in the MAC now. What a fucking conference.
