The Redskins Absolutely Cannot Let Bruce Allen Try And Find Another Quarterback

Look, this isn’t alllll Bruce Allen’s fault. He didn’t tear RG3’s knee into a million pieces. And he’s not at fault for Alex Smith’s injury.

However.

The Donnovan McNabb extension was a fucking joke. The guy was bouncing balls into the dirt and we gave up a 2nd and a 4th for an obviously finished quarterback. Made no sense at the time, but Bruce Allen did it.

Trading 3 first rounders for Griffin…yeah. I imagine there is a universe where it panned out. Where his knee didn’t shred, where he beat the Seahawks in that game, and Redskins fans are actually happy. But that’s not the universe we live in. The RG3 debacle cost the franchise years of development, no doubt about it.

And then Kirk Cousins. Back to back franchise tags. The constant tug of war with management. The Skins bet against him, he bet on himself and got 100 million guaranteed from the Vikings. The Skins never really had a plan with him. Just give him 20 million a year, never get a long term deal, and be left in a lurch.

Which brings us to Alex Smith. I like Alex Smith. He wins games. We know that. But they traded Kendall Fuller and a 3rd rounder for 34 year old Alex Smith, and immediately gave him a huge extension with $71 million guaranteed. And again, it’s not Bruce Allen’s fault that he broke his leg, but the results Smith had put up this year had a lotttt of Redskins fans questioning the move already. Trade for an old quarterback who can’t throw the ball down the field and give him a big extension? When has that worked in NFL history?

So yeah. We’re back in this same spot as always- a team in disarray without a longterm solution at quarterback and Bruce Allen calling the shots. We need a GM so freaking badly. I don’t know how they can let Bruce Allen try again. He can’t evaluate talent. He has no idea what he’s doing. The Skins are in this spot once again, and if Dan Snyder lets Bruce Allen screw this up AGAIN I will lose my mind. I might as well start losing my mind now because we all know it’s going to happen. Just hire a GM, Dan Snyder. Hire a god damn GM.
