It's Been 4 Months And I Still Haven't Gotten Over How Wildly Irresponsible Jim Was In "A Quiet Place"/Someone Hit Me With One Of The Most Mind-Melting Twitter Replies I've Ever Received

It all started with this Tweet about the movie A Quiet Place. While I didn’t hate the movie (SPOILERS AHEAD), I have been annoyed with one pretty major part of the movie since I saw it- why in the world they would ever bring a child into their universe. It is without a doubt the dumbest, most asinine decision Jim and Pam (Sorry, that’s just what I’m wired to call them) could have made. It was bad enough they were lackadaisical enough to let their son got eaten, and then they do what? They bring the loudest god damn thing on the planet, a freaking new born baby, into a world where if you as much as sneeze, you are devoured like a candy bar left on Glenny Balls desk.

In the movie, Jim worked tirelessly to try to figure out how to kill the monster alien things. He had two jobs- keep his family safe (failed) and figure out how to kill the aliens (failed). And what did he do in between? Didn’t pull out of Pam, knocked her up, and put everyone in even more jeopardy than they already were.

So while I liked the movie, it bothered me to no end that he knocked her up. Actually upsets me still how wildly irresponsible it was. Also that they didn’t just live at the waterfall. Or at minimum, Pam didn’t live at the waterfall when it was getting close to her due date. Seems like a pretty easy no-brainer.

So anyway, now that I’ve got that rant off my chest, I get to part 2 of the blog- the most mind-melting Twitter response I’ve ever received:

Just an amazing, amazing, amazing response. JTRock really swinging for the fences, letting me know an intricate plot detail of a movie that he has never seen. It’s such a preposterous thing to do, so confidently, for absolutely no reason. Well, actually…..his reason is AMAZING.

He read the Wikipedia when the movie came out! My man just wanted in on the conversation. Didn’t really matter if he saw the movie, he wanted to chat about it. Bummer for him that he misremembered the entire point, which just so happened to be the most important part of the movie and has been weighing on my brain for the last 4 months. Otherwise, he nailed it. He also owns it:

Respect.
