Get Your Day Started With The Flyers vs Habs 1987 Pre-Game Brawl. Flyers In 6

Allow a couple of young lads in Don Cherry and Ron MacLean to provide a little more context to this brawl for you in case you need to brush up on your history.

May 14, 1987. The Philadelphia Flyers vs Montreal Canadiens in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Philly won game 1. Montreal came back and evened up the series after winning game 2. The Flyers then rattled off back-to-back wins. Then Montreal extended the series after winning game 5, sending a heated playoff battle with plenty of bad blood and gamesmanship to a game 6.

Sound pretty familiar?

If the Philadelphia Flyers have taught the Montreal Canadiens one thing over the years, it's that they're going to have to pay for putting a puck in an empty net.

I don't think that game 6 tonight will have quite the same dramatics as it did in 1987. But with everything that went down in game 5 between these two teams and the aftermath of it all? Well all I'm saying is that history has this thing about repeating itself. And the most important part about the history here is that the Philadelphia Flyers would go on to win game 6 and advance to the Stanley Cup Final.

So let's go, boys. Finish this thing off. 7pm. Hard Dick Hockey.
