Cade York Missed Two Game-Winning Field Goals In 90 Seconds And The Browns Officially Have A Kicker Problem

Cleveland, we have a problem. And it doesn't just come from Cade York missing two game-winning field goals within 90 seconds last night. It comes from the entire body of work that he's put in since we drafted him in the FOURTH ROUND last year. He went from being potentially the greatest Browns player in franchise history through 1 week of his career to being the #1 pain in the ass starting immediately in Week 2 after contributing to the collapse vs. the Jets. I'll never forget him saving our asses and probably a couple lives by putting a 58 yarder through at the buzzer to beat Baker Mayfield, but since then, Jesus Christ he's been fucking terrible. Extra points, field goals, you name it. Buddy can't make kicks unless it's 60 yards against the Panthers.

The fact of the matter is that in the year 2023, field Goals within 54 yards have to go through the goal posts. That's just where we're at. And this guy can't do it, especially when we need it. And at the end of the day, the question is will the Browns need a kicker to make a clutch kick this year? As someone who truly thinks the Browns are legitimate Super Bowl contenders, yes they will. There will be a few, if not more than that, instances this year where Cade York wins or loses games. And the entire city of Cleveland officially has zero confidence in him to make those kicks.

Cade says he's unfazed though:

What the fuck does that mean? How would the preseason not be a good indication of how you're kicking? You been kicking pretty well behind closed doors or what?

I don't care what Kevin Stefanski says publicly, there is a 0.0% chance that he is confident with his Kicker heading into the season. And despite what Cade says, he can't be confident right now either. He literally deleted his Instagram post of being 3 for 3 last night after he missed his last two.

Confident kickers don't delete Instagram posts. It's been like that since football was invented.
