Brad Marchand Has Been Named Captain Of The Boston Bruins (For Real This Time)

The 21st Captain Of The Boston Bruins has been named and it is indeed the one and only Brad Marchand. Two years ago Marchand was named Captain as a prank when it was so clearly obvious that the 20th Captain would be Patrice Bergeron... Which generated this amazing image. Only for it to be true 2 years later. Manifestation works!

So this ain't his first Rodeo with the C, but all kidding aside it's so well deserved. Marchand started as a 4th liner and grinded his way way to the top as one of the best left wingers in the league. He's learned from the likes of Chara, Krejci, Rask and of course Patrice Bergeron and with the youth movement upon us I don't think there's anyone better to help lead the way since he's been there. It'll be a different team without Patrice (understatement of the century), but Marchand's evolution into an elite talent over the years has been amazing to witness.

This actually pained me to put together.

I'm sure fans of other teams are pissing themselves complaining about his history and whatnot, but like I said, Marchand has grown into an tremendous player and an equally tremendous leader and there's no one better to take over the reins from Bergeron than the man that has been with him side by side for the last 13 years. I actually wondered if they'd go straight to Charlie McAvoy, but that would be such a disservice to the work ethic and maturation of Marchand. It'll be Charlie McAvoy's team when that day comes, and even though 63's the one with the C on his chest, it'll be a leadership by committee as always.

Congrats to Brad, what an honor!

ps this announcement would've been 1000 times more electric had they paired it with the jersey announcement. But I digress.

pps the jerseys are growing on me even more, I may love them now?
