Mike Trout Holding Back Tears Talking About His Knee Surgery Really Makes You Feel For Him

Massive blow to the sport of baseball as we got the news that Mike Trout is getting knee surgery and will miss a significant chunk of the season with no timetable to return. A torn meniscus in his left knee is the latest injury to sideline Trout in what has become a tradition now. We've fully reached the part of his career where he's missing a ton of games every single year due to injuries. This is just who he is now. Hasn't played in over 134 games in a normal regular season since 2019 and that includes seasons of 36 games, 119 games, and 82 games last year.

Just can't stay healthy anymore. From 2012 to 2020 he was only on the IL twice, now he's been on it 4 times since 2020. You can argue that he was on pace to become one of the greatest players we've seen but it seems like that is a pipe dream now due to his injuries. He was having a meh season too, only hitting .220 but was tied for the MLB lead with 10 home runs but it's such a massive blow to baseball. We're single handily watching a great career breakdown in front of our eyes, kind of reminiscent of Ken Griffey Jr. in his later years too. Obviously this is tough news to handle for Trout and he seemed very emotional as he tried to hold back tears while talking to reporters about the injury and how it happened.

He said he really didn't even know when it happened. Felt fine when he was hitting, fielding, running and all that but could feel it as he sat down and really felt it postgame. That has to just be the worst, having no clue when you got hurt but probably knowing that you are injured and there really isn't anything to do. You can't just play on a torn meniscus either, you've got to get that thing fixed. Watching him speak to reporters was tough, he's gone from a fringe top player of all time to the "what could have been" category. We'll never see him in a playoff series, we'll never see him win a World Series, we'll never see him get to 500 home runs, he's fading fast.

He legit may be a first ballot Hall of Famer with 0 playoff series wins. Has that ever happened? He's played the game hard for 10+ years but now we are seeing the results. Kind of par for the course with the Angels though but man does it suck he's sidelined for months, baseball is better when Mike Trout is socking dingers. People usually shit on Trout saying that they don't feel bad for him cuz he's making bank and living in LA, but now it seems like he's coming to the realization that his body is betraying him and his career won't end up like we all thought it would. Was on pace for a 50/30 season and now that's gone, hope we get to see a somewhat healthy Trout to close out his career in the next few seasons. Another wasted season for Trout and his Angels, easy to see why he was emotional.
