LSU Pitcher Todd Peterson Ropes a Two Run Double in Extras and Gives Probably the Best Postgame Interview of the Year After Lying To His Coach Saying He 'Used To Hit Bombs in High School'
That’s the best sports interview of the year by far. Not even close. Give Todd Peterson every award right now.
“What was going through your mind when you came up to bat?”
“Go yard.”
South Carolina changed their pitcher when Peterson came up to bat with two men on and two outs in the 12th. That’s what caused LSU head coach Paul Mainieri to ask him if he’s ever swung the bat before in high school. Peterson responded “Yeah I hit bombs.” That was good enough for Mainieri to let him try to make something happen.
How about coming up for your first at bat in your college career and absolutely ROPING a two-run double in extras? He came a few feet from hitting the ball out all-together which would have just been insane. Peterson entered the game as a pitcher in the 8th inning and never gave the ball up, finishing the game off in the 12th after giving himself a three run cushion to work with. Somehow his postgame interview outdid his play on the field.
The best part of all of this was that Peterson didn’t hit bombs in high school. In fact, he hadn’t gotten a hit since 8th grade. He completely lied to his coach just so he could be allowed to swing.
