Bulls Looking To Trade Up To Take Dougie McDermott At The 8th Spot, Carmelo Who?
(Source) Even before the chase of Carmelo Anthony begins, the Bulls are actively seeking ways to bolster their offense and could move into the upper part of the draft in search of more shooting. Chicago has had multiple talks with Orlando, both about the No. 12 pick and shooting guard Arron Afflalo, and with Denver about No. 11, but a source told Sporting News that the Bulls have also engaged with the Kings in a potential deal for the No. 8 pick. Chicago’s focus in such a scenario would be Creighton star Doug McDermott, who averaged 21.7 points and shot 55.0 percent from the field (45.8 percent from the 3-point line) in four years with the Bluejays. The Bulls also have interest in Michigan State’s Gary Harris and Michigan’s Nik Stauskas, who has made Chicago his home base during the draft process.
Could you imagine a team with Jimmer and Doug McDermott? White boys making it rain all over the West Side. Hold on to your girlfriend because Dougie Buckets is making everyone wet.
I have a question though, am I the only who is a little scared of all this talk this summer? Don’t get me wrong, I love that the Bulls are seemingly active, but at the end of the day it’s all talk until something actually happens. I would love to see the Bulls trade up and get a scorer, Stauskas or McDermott would fit in perfectly. Getting Melo in free agency, exploring a trade for Love, I like it all, but I’m weary. Why? Because we’ve been down this road before, whether it be Tracy McGrady or Deng for Kobe or the summer of 2010 when everything was pointing towards Lebron and D-Wade and the Bulls wound up with Carlos Boozer. Post MJ the front office has yet to make a move that has completely altered the course of the team and put them over the top. So yeah, I want Afflalo or McDermott or Stauskas. I want to sign Melo or trade for Love, but in the back of my mind I’m sort of expecting the Bulls to be the same come training camp, and they’ll play hard for 82 games, and D-Rose will probably have a problem with his knees and Thibs will get more out of less and we’ll lose in the playoffs. I’m as optimistic a fan as they come but if you don’t at least have your guard up this summer you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Now let’s all hope I’m very wrong and Gar/Pax figure this all out.
