How High Do We Think Bill Walton Was When He Called Luke Walton About Coaching LeBron From A Grateful Dead Concert

[ESPN] – Luke’s father, Bill Walton, would call him from a Grateful Dead concert to help celebrate. “Yeah, and he had [drummer] Mickey Hart in the background yelling at me that, ‘The rhythm is the answer to everything in life,’” Luke Walton said with a laugh. “So once I figure out what that means, we’ll be good.”

Goddamn I love Bill Walton. I mean nothing is more perfect than this image. Bill, probably high as shit hanging out with Mickey Hart finding out his son is about to coach LeBron. What else is there to do? You call him and give some cryptic ass message.

I love Luke’s response here too. He knows his old man is crazy and just says random stuff, so of course he has to respond with ‘once I figure out what that means.’ It’s the absolute perfect scene and I’d do anything to be on both ends of this call. I’d love to see Bill’s reaction when he found out the news and would love to see Luke on the phone listening to Bill and Mickey Hart give him advice.
