New NASA Study Dunks On Elon Musk After He Says Mars Can Become An Earth-Like Planet

CNET- SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk famously told late night host Stephen Colbert of his hope to use thermonuclear explosions to jump-start the creation of a Martian atmosphere that might support life. But new research backed by NASA finds that even nuking the Red Planet won’t be enough to convert it into another Earth. The basic idea behind making Mars habitable, also known as “terraforming,” is to release enough of the carbon dioxide trapped in the planet’s surface to thicken the atmosphere, heating up the planet enough to keep water in a liquid state. It’s literally the same greenhouse effect that is also driving climate change on our planet right now.

“Carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapor (H2O) are the only greenhouse gases that are likely to be present on Mars in sufficient abundance to provide any significant greenhouse warming,” said Bruce Jakosky of the University of Colorado, Boulder, in a release.

Ouchhhhhhhhhhhhh. That one hurts. A few years ago Elon Musk went on Stephen Colbert and said that Mars could one day be an Earth-like planet. People obviously lost their minds and applauded The All Knowing And All Powerful Elon Musk for his brave statement. That adulation lasted for a couple years until yesterday when NASA (that’s the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for those of you who don’t know) came out with a new study saying Mars will never become an Earth-like planet.

PUT’EM IN A COFFIN

You know what’s a real bitch? It’s a real bitch when actual science and scientists come around and disprove something you said. Especially when Elon Musk is supposed to be the king of Mars knowledge. Stuff like this has to keep Musk up at night. He must lay there in bed staring at the ceiling thinking, “Man I really hope no one does a study on the things I’ve said and exposes me as the total fraud that I am.” This Mars thing is just the beginning. Start pulling on the strings of Elon’s ideas and it’s gonna be revealed that he never has any idea what he’s talking about.
