The Los Angeles Clippers Are Sick And Tired Of Being In The Lakers Shadow

[LA Times] – “We’re moving to Inglewood come hell or high water,” he said of a proposed arena near the site of the stadium being constructed for the Rams and Chargers. “We gotta have a house. So we’re working on a plan to get our own house. We want to get our own house. It turns out the way this works in L.A., which is much beloved to me, that if you start now you might be done in six years.” He then urged fans to contact their Assembly representative and state senator to urge approval of legislation that would accelerate the process. He probably inspired more than a few emails and phone calls.

I love the idea here from Steve Ballmer. Get the Clippers out of the same arena as the Lakers and really out of Los Angeles in general. However, we need them to move to Las Vegas not Inglewood. Now, I know people will want Seattle and trust me, I want a Seattle team in the NBA again. But, it can’t be a move like the Clippers. When a Seattle team comes back it needs to be the Sonics and it would just feel wrong to move the Clippers into the Sonics.

I also appreciate the craziness from Ballmer here. I mean just screaming about how they are moving no matter. He has millions of dollars so who cares about fines and a lawsuit? He’ll drag this shit out as long as possible. More importantly, I love that he’s trying to go after the Lakers and just being sick of being compared to them.

It’s trickling down too. Look at this quote from Patrick Beverly:

The Clippers have been the better team in LA over the last handful of seasons. But, with the Lakers now getting LeBron and the Clippers trying to get over the hump, yeah, I’m not so sure about that. I do like the Clippers solidifying the backcourt for the future with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jerome Robinson in this year’s draft, but again, the Lakers have LeBron.

So let’s move these guys to Las Vegas and finally get a team in that city. We know the Clippers have moved before, so what’s one more time?
