What we’re seeing here is some young, adolescent males who have left their birth pride to claim territory and females of their own. You can’t stay home and coast through life under mother’s care forever, and in the case of young male lions, it’s pretty much a matter of life or death; if they linger around their original pride too long, the dominant male of the pride, most likely their own father, will eventually see them as a threat to his reign and kill the shit out of them.
