20th Century Fox Just Had To Cut A Scene From 'The Predator' At The Last Minute Because The Director Casted His Sex Offender Friend And Didn't Tell Anyone

LATimes- Twentieth Century Fox was just days away from locking picture on “The Predator” when an urgent note came in: Delete the scene featuring Steven Wilder Striegel.

Striegel, 47, didn’t have a big role in his longtime friend Shane Black’s reboot of the sci-fi thriller — just a three-page scene shared with actress Olivia Munn.

But last month, Munn learned that Striegel is a registered sex offender who pleaded guilty in 2010 after facing allegations that he attempted to lure a 14-year-old female into a sexual relationship via the internet. When Munn shared the information with Fox on Aug. 15, studio executives quickly decided to excise him from the movie.

“Our studio was not aware of Mr. Striegel’s background when he was hired,” a Fox spokesperson said in a statement to The Times. “We were not aware of his background during the casting process due to legal limitations that impede studios from running background checks on actors.”

Black, however, has always known.

Give a guy an inch, they’re always gonna take a mile. Always.

20th Century Fox: “Hey Shane Black, we’re gonna give you the new ‘Predator’ movie! You played Hawkins in the first one, it’ll be a nice full circle thing for the franchise, so it’s all yours to do whatever you please with! Just don’t cast any pedophiles! Haha”

Shane Black: “Oh don’t be ridiculous, I’d never!”

*immediately gets the nearest pedophile on the line for a three-page scene with Olivia Munn*

I mean, how fucking dumb can this dude be? We’re dead smack in the middle of the #MeToo Movement, and he’s doin’ favors for his REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER pals?

It’s one thing if a movie casts a not-yet-outed pervert. We saw that with ‘All The Money In The World’ last year, when just weeks from release, Spacey was exposed (not only as a pervert but also as a homosexual, people forget that), and you can’t really fault the studio for that. They claim they didn’t know. Fine. But when you’re casting government-registered pedos who plead guilty to luring a 14-year-old girl into a sexual relationship online…I mean what are you doing?! You can’t do that! That’s just not the world we live in!

The only thing AND I MEAN THE ONLY THING that’d excuse this is if Shane was going for some kind of meta-statement on Hollywood and society by casting a sexual predator in ‘The Predator’, sparking a “BUT WHO IS THE TRUE PREDATOR?!” narrative and adding to the complexity of the film. I don’t think that’s the case, however, because based on the trailer this flick’s gonna be a steaming pile of dog shit.
