High School Senior Dominates Life By Winning Homecoming Queen Then Hitting The Game-Winning Kick For The Varsity Football Team

jp

SF Chronicle- One Mississippi high school senior had to quickly discard her crown after being named homecoming queen — and put on a football helmet. Kaylee Foster was crowned homecoming queen of Ocean Springs High School before Friday night’s football game.

She then put on her football uniform and later kicked the winning extra point to lead her team to a 13-12 victory over George County High School, local news outlets reported. Foster kicked two field goals earlier, giving her a majority of the team’s points.

I’ll admit that my knowledge of the inner-workings of high school are a little fuzzy since I haven’t been in a high school for years despite always having dreams that I forgot my locker combination and am about to fail a class that I haven’t attended all year. I think that dream is my brain’s way of telling me that I am woefully unprepared for life, as if comparing myself to everyone else I know in my age range doesn’t already do that.

However, this blog isn’t about me. It is about Kaylee Foster. And I’m pretty sure Kaylee is now the President of her school and has the job of principal if she wants it. Winning homecoming queen or leading your high school football team in points and to victory during the homecoming week is impressive as fuck. But to do both in the heart of SEC country means that you are now likely a local legend that will have your name on any road signs welcoming people to your town. In case getting older and fatter by the minute wasn’t bad enough for me, I now have to read about a teenager that is more awesome at pretty much every aspect of life than I ever will be before she even gets her high school diploma. Don’t get me wrong, I have been used to seeing people younger than me succeeding in life every time I turn on a sports game. But to see this girl absolutely dominate two different aspects of life that I never even treaded water during my absolute best days while also knowing there is a 99.9999% chance that she is also much smarter than me was a real gut punch on this rainy ass Monday that I really didn’t need.
