A LOT Went Down In The National League Playoff Picture On Tuesday Night

Milwaukee Brewers v St Louis Cardinals

Try and keep up with this — on Tuesday night, the Brewers and Christian Yelich’s 6 RBI night beat the Cardinals:

The Dbacks walked it off against the Dodgers:

The Pirates blanked the Cubs:

And the Rockies dunked on the Phillies:

What does all of this mean? Seismic shifting in the National League playoff picture. That means that the Brewers are now a half-game back of the Cubs in the NL Central with a three and a half game lead for home field advantage in the Wild Card game.

Home field against who? Well, coming into play on Tuesday night, it was the Cardinals, but now St. Louis, after losing to Milwaukee, currently finds themselves on the outside looking in, as the Rockies have leapfrogged them for the second Wild Card spot after beating the Phillies convincingly.

With the Rockies flip-flopping places with the Cardinals in the Wild Card, they’re now BACK in a playoff spot with a half-game lead over St. Louis, now trailing the Dodgers by only a half-game for first place in the NL West. The Rockies had previously been two and a half games back last Wednesday, following a three-game sweep at the hands of LA. Colorado is now back from the dead.

Ladies and gentlemen, we’re going to have multiple dogfights going down to the wire for the NL Central, the NL West, and the second NL Wild Card spot. October’s come early this year.
