There Are Ways To Take a Loss As a Yankees Fan, Bragging About Having 27 Rings Isn't One Of Them

Am I an asshole Yankee fan? Yes. Can I be obnoxious a lot of the time? Without question, what sports fan isn’t? Am I a sore loser? No. Listen man, you lose, you lose. The Red Sox were the better team and they knocked us out of the MLB Postseason at our home last night. There’s not much to say when that shit happens, you just have to take it on the chin. They showed up in those two home games, the Yankees didn’t. End of story.

If there’s one thing I’ve tried to push in my time at Barstool as the Yankees guy it’s to try and get away from the stereotypical Yankee fan who says the number “27” every five goddamn seconds when they get in an argument with a Sox fan. I hate it. Obviously everyone knows we have won the most championships of all time and are the most successful team in sports history. That doesn’t mean we have to shove that number down people’s throats as a defense mechanism when we’re yelling about baseball. It’s weak. You will never hear me bring it up. NEVER. You can’t brag about World Series rings when you’ve haven’t won in nine years, and have won one title in the last 18 seasons. That’s just not how it works folks. Bringing up how many World Series titles we have after losing to the Sox on our own field is fucking pathetic. In my memory as a human being on this Earth I remember the ’09 ship and that’s it. I was almost seven when they beat the Mets in 2000. I’m much hungrier for a World Series title than older fans and when they get back on top it’ll be fucking incredible. I NEED to see Aaron Judge, Severino, Gary, Gleyber, Miggy, etc. go on a championship spree like the late 90’s. It’s all I want.

I cringed when I saw Liz’s video last night. Frankie said it set back Yankees fans 100 years and I’ve got to be honest it wasn’t the best look. She might as well have been wearing a giant gold chain while she was at it. Some people said I summed everything up perfectly with my own video. I’m not here to get in a pissing contest about who’s video was better, but I know bragging about having 27 rings when you’ve won once in 18 years is not what we should be doing. Take the loss like a man (or woman), pray the Sox don’t win it all this year, and get back to work and win the whole fucking thing next year. There’s ways to lose as a fan, that wasn’t one of them. I love you Liz, but you have to be better.
