These Rajon Rondo Quotes About The Fight Are Pulling On My Heartstrings
First off, writing Rondo blogs and being forced to use a Lakers picture will never not sting. This is more of a “me” problem, but just know I am plowing through the hurt for the sake of #content. Credit to me for that. Well, because this story simply cannot die, we finally have quotes from Rondo talking about his side of the altercation. The internet was ready to declare him the reason things escalated because he “spit” on Chris Paul, even though scientific evidence would suggest otherwise
Look this isn’t my Rondo Celtics homerism talking, this is science and how you dare spit in the face of science. You could read the story on ESPN if you want that I linked above, but here’s what he had to say
“This is the only time I’m going to address this,” Rondo told ESPN on Tuesday. “I had a mouthpiece in my mouth and I was exasperated because I was about to tell him to ‘get the [expletive] out of here.’
“Look at my body language [in the video]. My hands on my hips. I turn away for a second. Look at Eric [Gordon] and Melo [Carmelo Anthony] in the video. If they saw me spit, they would have turned their face up or something. They had no reaction.”
“Of course, the NBA went with his side because I got three games and he got two,” Rondo told ESPN. “Everyone wants to believe Chris Paul is a good guy. They don’t know he’s a horrible teammate. They don’t know how he treats people. Look at what he did last year when he was in LA; trying to get to the Clippers locker room. They don’t want to believe he’s capable of taunting and igniting an incident. He comes out and says I spit and the media sides with that.”
“One, if I spit on you, bottom line, there is not going to be no finger-pointing. If you felt that I just spit on you, then all bets are off. Two, look at my body language. If I spit on you on purpose, I’m going to be ready for a man to swing on me. You ain’t going to have my hands on my hip and my head look away at someone if I spit on them. After the [expletive] goes down, within 30 seconds, you run and tell the sideline reporters that I spit on you? If I spit on you, you are trying to get to me. You not trying to make up a story so you can look like a good guy. It makes no sense to me.
“It’s bigger than basketball now, for you all, for the league, that side over there trying to spin this like … this whole spitgate,” Rondo told ESPN on Tuesday. “Trying to blame me without being accountable for anything he did to provoke the situation.”
That’s my former championship winning starting point guard! Safe to say, but maybe Hank was onto something days ago in terms of the reaction from everyone. Nobody saw spit because that would have been addressed, so are we sure it even happened and Chris Paul isn’t just a dick? I mean we all know CP3 is a dick who loves punching dicks
Why does he deserve the benefit of the doubt like Rondo is saying? Because he makes State Farm commercials? Typical CP3 move to immediately run to reporters and say something like this, something that is extremely hard to prove with circumstantial evidence trying to paint Rondo in a bad light. Yeah Rondo can be dramatic but he also tells the truth. What would his motivation be to lie about this scenario? He’s clearly not ashamed of the fight but a man can only take so much. Obviously these two have a history dating back a lonnnng time, so it’s nothing new something like this happened. All these quotes did though is just make me miss Rondo that much more. I know it’s been nearly five seasons since he was in Boston, but he’s one of my all time favorite Celtics. Seeing him continue to not put up with any shit is why I loved him in the first place, so even though it makes me want to gouge my eyes out that he’s now doing it in the purple and gold, I can’t help but feel all those feelings I had from 2006-14.
Forever a #TeamRondo guy, no matter what slander Chris Paul tries to pull
