"Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" on Netflix is the Perfect Spooky Szn Show to Binge This Halloween
This Sunday, I did not do anything. It was gross outside, I was kind of hungover, and I had leftovers in the fridge, so there was legitimately no reason for me to leave the house, much less get out of bed. I needed a show to binge that would keep me occupied and interested and that would also perfectly encapsulate the feeling of the season. Last year on Halloween, I sat on my couch and watched the entire new season of Stranger Things. With the lack of a new season of that this year, I felt at a loss as to what I could watch that would make me feel ~spooky~.
Then, I saw “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”. Set in the same universe as Riverdale, it has that timelessly creepy feel of an old horror movie. You’re never quite sure if it’s supposed to be 1962 or 2018. So we’re all on the same page, this is a much, much darker iteration of “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”, though it shares few similarities– names of characters and not much else.
Sabrina is half-witch, half-mortal, and on her 16th birthday has to give up one of those worlds. I don’t want to give too much detail, but things get pretty intense in the fight for Sabrina’s soul. If you like American Horror Story “Coven”, you’ll love this show. If you’re not in the mood to attempt to go out on Wednesday night but you still want to feel part of the holiday, plop down on your couch/bed/significant others’ bed and don’t move until you’ve finished all 10 episodes. And once you do, DM me, because I have a LOT I want to to discuss.
