JR Smith Matured From Throwing Soup At People To Calmly Considering Leaving The Cavs

Look at mature JR Smith here. Old JR Smith would have thrown soup at a coach who was jerking him around from playing to not playing. But, now he’s just calmly weighing options. Here’s the thing. It’s going to be his last year in Cleveland. The Cavs will either release him after the year or use his contract in a trade if they go that route. Either way he’s got one more year left in northern Ohio.

I will say this sums up the Cavs pretty well though. This is now the second time that JR Smith (and Kyle Korver) were told they’d be benched after being in the rotation. The Cavs have no idea what they want to do. They signed Kevin Love long term – don’t be surprised to see him traded at some point. They wanted to compete now. But, they clearly can’t compete now. They send guys into the rotation and then out. Just an absolute mess.

The problem is I just don’t know who would take JR’s contract right now. It would have to be part of a larger trade since he’s making $18 million guaranteed. Wonder if they can bring LeBron back?
