I've Had Time To Think About It, And Yes, This Is The Most Insane Knockout In Mixed Martial Arts History

Alright, I’ve had some time to think about it, I slept on it – twice, might I add – and I’ve come to the conclusion that Yair Rodriguez’s no-look elbow knockout at the buzzer over The Korean Zombie was, in fact, the most insane knockout in mixed martial arts history. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not calling it the greatest knockout of all time, or the most shocking – that probably belongs to Conor McGregor’s KO of Jose Aldo, or Holly Holm’s over Ronda Rousey, or Weidman’s over Silva or Matt Serra’s over Georges St-Pierre – but this was undoubtably the most insane. The factors that led to me making this decision?

-Yair Rodriguez accepted this fight on short notice, after basically being cut by the UFC, and was a cunt’s hair away from being signed to Bellator.
-It was a high-pressure main event slot on the UFC’s 25th Anniversary Show.
-That show took place in Denver, Colorado at an EXTREMELY high altitude for professional mixed martial arts.
-Yair Rodriguez was stunned by strikes during the fight, and clearly being hit with the bigger shots throughout the bout, leaving him down 3-1 on two judges’ scorecards leading into the fifth and final round and requiring a finish to secure a victory.
-He threw the upward-elbow behind his back, without looking, with ONE FUCKING SECOND REMAINING IN THE FIGHT, and absolutely fucking flatlined the un-killable…The Korean Zombie.

It’s gotta be! I can’t think of any other come-from-behind wins like that one! Can you?

Let me know on Twitter!

P.S. I may just blog this knockout every day for the rest of my life.
