Elias Pettersson Rips 99 mph Shot in Canucks Skills Competition....Pray For The NHL
Last night the Vancouver Canucks held their annual team Skills Competition in front of fans and we had Elias Pettersson out here ripping 99.4 mph slap shots. Yes, you heard correctly. The 20-year-old, 170 lbs rookie shot the puck over 99 mph last night during a skills competition. Pray for the rest of the NHL.
Pettersson has taken the league by storm this year as one of the most electric rookies in the class. The 2017 1st round pick of the Canucks is almost averaging a point per game, playing in 23 games with 22 points (13g, 9a).
First off, I’m willing to bet 170lbs is awfully generous for this kid. Buddy is sooooo skinny. That has really been his one knock since he joined the league, he needs to gain weight and put on some muscle. Well fuck….imagine when that happens? Kid is shooting basically 100 mph as is, imagine once he finds the inside of a weight room? The future is so bright for this kid it hurts my eyes.
And let me just say, I love the idea of individual team skills competitions. It is a cheap way for fans to see some of their favorite players with a little personality really show off their stuff. I have always loved the skills competition in the All-Star game since I was a little kid and Ray Bourque was just owning the accurate shot contest. Wish we saw more teams do this, I think it is great for the fans.
If the first 23 games of the season haven’t already shown you that this Pettersson kid is going to be something special, the video of him last night should do the trick.
