End Your Workday With Michael Jordan Notching 30,000 Points Against The Bulls
Look it’s late on a Friday afternoon on the first week back in the new year. No chance you aren’t over working and are looking for things to carry you into the weekend. So for today, I figured why not relive a great moment in NBA history. On this date in 2002, Michael Jordan joined an exclusive club. The 30K points club is the rarest of rare are in terms of NBA greats, and at the time there were just 5 other players who had reached that milestone. There are now 8, and they are names you might be familiar with
Kareem – 38,387
Karl Malone – 36,928
Kobe – 33,643
Jordan – 32,292
LeBron – 31,966 (and counting)
Wilt Chamerlain – 31,419
Dirk – 31,228 (and counting)
Dr. J – 30,0026
Doesn’t get much better in terms of collective talent than that folks. Just think of all the ridiculous scorers we’ve seen throughout NBA history that didn’t reach this milestone. Guys like Shaq (10th), Hakeem (13th), Pierce (18th), KG (20th), Moses Malone (9th), Melo (22nd), George Gervin (16th), etc. You need the longevity and the elite scoring ability to reach this club and honestly Durant is really the only one I can think of that’s close once his career is over. Maybe Harden if he continues to score like this for quite a while.
Anyway, I thought it was pretty poetic that Jordan reached this milestone facing his former team in CHI. That’s just some fairytale shit you don’t often see, but what makes sports so cool. To think he still got to that number even with all the time he took off sort of breaks my brain. You have to think he’s at least top 2 all time if not the leader if he doesn’t do that right? Anyway, he got there about midway through the second quarter on a FT, and while I’m sure it stings for some Bulls fans to see this happen with the Wizards when he scored 29,277 with Chicago, it’s still a pretty cool moment.
So go ahead, sit back, hit play, watch some grainy ass NBA history and boom, it’ll be the weekend before you know it.
Great job this week everybody. See you all again Monday afternoon. Have a great weekend!
