Cleveland Takes Page Out Of P.E. Class For Halftime Show
Last night the Pacers were in Cleveland where the halftime show was a basic skills competition with a $100 gift card to the Cavaliers gift shop on the line. I’m not sure if Cleveland didn’t want to book a big name because the Pacers aren’t a big ticket, or because it’s Cleveland. Either assumption could be argued as correct. (Full Halftime Video Below)
Recently NBA League Pass started running commercials over the beginning of the halftime stream, causing us to miss a significant portion of the action. This would normally upset me, but the commercials have been classic Geico commercials. Like any red-blooded American I’d not have commercials, BUT If I’m going to have 30 seconds of consumerism crammed down my throat I’d prefer it be a Geico commercial. It seems Geico constantly puts out Super Bowl caliber commercials and rarely miss. Granted seeing the same commercial 8 times during a sporting event gets real old, real quick. If I have to watch Peyton Manning and Brad Paisley sing together for one more football season, I might start protesting the NFL.
Since we’re at the mercy of the stream, we missed competitor #1 setting the time to beat of 19.48 seconds. After watching the first four kids go through the course and not even sniff 19.48, I figured the time to beat came from a grown man or some sort of skills competition Hall of Famer. Nope, just this confident mother fucker.
I’m not even sure if this halftime show is worthy of a grade. Setting up cones and doing some lay-up drills is right out of a middle school PE class. I would have forgotten about this halftime show by now if it wasn’t for two things …
#1. DeShaun being hilariously realistic with his expectations of his performance, and then dabbing on the haters.
#2 Kids not using the glass and coming up with plenty of BIG DOINKS off the front of the rim. (It’s called being topical, look it up)
Due to the fact that there was $100 on the line and to an 11 year old kid that might as well be like competing for $1,000,000 … I’ll give this halftime show a 4/10. The Pacers play again tonight against the Celtics at 7:00pm. No word on what the halftime show is, but I’m going to need Boston to step up and give me something good.
