Kyrie Called LeBron To Apologize For Not Understanding How Difficult It Is To Be A Leader
Swallowing your pride to admit you fucked up, whether it be minutes or years after said fuck up, is a trait many people do not possess. For Kyrie to do so shows an incredible amount of self-realization that can only come from many hours of tripping hard on ayahuasca with a shaman deep within the Himalayas. But luckily he found his inner-peace before it was too late. All it took was losing to the Orlando Magic for the SECOND time in a single season for him to take a gander around the locker room, staring at the young talent on his team, to realize what a selfish dickhead he was during his years in Cleveland. “Ay man, all this time I thought you were being an asshole, Bron. And you were. But you were being an asshole for a reason. I was just trying to get some shots up and cross Brandon Knight into oblivion during All Star Weekend. My bad, bruh. I get it now.”
People will read into this and think Kyrie now regrets demanding a trade out of Cleveland or some shit like that. That feels wildly incorrect because Kyrie was 1000% right about wanting to get out of there before LeBron left in smoke as he had once before. But that first year they were together he could have taken things more seriously. Maybe they don’t need seven games to come back to beat the Warriors the second time around. Maybe things could have been different had Kyrie just been a little more mature and wise and filled with hallucinogens during that era rather than focusing on breaking down fools and making highlight reel moments and Uncle Drew Pepsi Max commercials. Who knows.
The past is the past, there’s nothing that can be done about that now. But that realization can help his current and future Celtics if he can continue to lead by example as he did on the floor against Toronto tonight. And with his words postgame.
It’s much easier to give props after a big win than after a demoralizing loss as he showed after the Orlando game. But again, once you remove your soul to bathe it among the cosmos and have your chakras realigned to become one with the universe it’s much easier to speak with truth and clarity. And also much easier to hit dagger threes in the eyeball of the best perimeter defender of the 21st century.
