Scottie Pippen Thinks Zion Williamson Should Sit Out Until The NBA Draft Which Simply Won't Happen
So this has been a topic since, well, Duke ran all over Kentucky. People immediately threw out the idea of Zion sitting out the entire year and getting ready for the NBA Draft. We’re seeing it happen a bit more in college football, especially come bowl game season.
It’s not going to happen, especially with Zion. He’s not someone who will just sit out. The dude loves to play. More importantly the dude loves to compete. That’s been said by pretty much anyone who has around him and talked to him.
I would understand the decision for Zion or anyone that has a guaranteed top-5 spot in the NBA Draft to sit out. The NCAA model isn’t set up the best if they suffer a major injury. The loss of potential earnings goes way down. And let’s not kid ourselves, whether Zion played after the Kentucky game or not he’s going top-2/3. It’s not like he was going to raise his stock any higher. He was already going to be a sought after sneaker free agent.
I know we saw Mitchell Robinson sit out for a year and Darius Bazley go through this new internship thing while he sits out. But, we haven’t seen someone like Zion pull it yet. I think we’ll see it at some point. Kids are getting smarter with all the information out there in mock drafts and people to talk to. They know where they’ll be. And when it happens no one should care. It’s a business decision.
