DeMarcus Cousins Calls The Warriors The Most Hated Team In Sports With His Return
[ESPN] - “I don’t really pay attention to storylines,” Cousins told ESPN. “I mean, they’re gonna say what they have to say. They’re gonna add their opinions. We’re the most hated team in sports.”
When Nichols answered with the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees, Cousins responded by saying, with a laugh, “Well, put us up there. I would say the Warriors are for sure. You know they hate Kevin [Durant]. They hate me. I think the only guy they really like is Stephen [Curry]. Actually, they may hate him as well. They hate Draymond Green. But I mean, it is what it is. I can’t worry about that.”
I think there’s only one thing to do here. Argue about whether or not the Warriors are the most hated team in sports. I actually don’t think they are the most hated team in the NBA as I think the Lakers still hold that title. People still hate them from Magic and then Kobe/Shaq and now LeBron.
But, Cousins makes a compelling case for the Warriors. Durant is the most hated player in the NBA because of leaving for the Warriors. People hate LeBron for bouncing to three different teams, but it didn’t have the same sort of hatred as Durant did. I mean Manny Diaz came out and said that top recruits in Miami don’t want to play for the Hurricanes because of what Kevin Durant did.
But, in terms of American sports? There’s no way the Warriors are more hated than say the Patriots? People love to hate on dynasties and success and as someone who is not a Patriots fan I can completely understand why they would be the most hated franchise. Hell, you can make a case that Alabama or Ohio State football may be more hated just because college sports is so wild.
The saving grace for the Warriors? Klay Thompson. The dude is impossible to hate. So who do you think would be the most hated team in sports?
