The Next Wave Of All Star Fan Voting Results Are Out And Sadly Kevin Durant's Burners Didn't Come Through
Alright if you’ve been following along I’ve been tracking these fan results as they’ve come in, you can see the progression here and here, and today we have the next wave of fan voting results. The biggest change in the previous round was the fact that Kevin Durant had fallen out of the West starting lineup according to fans. The logical next step was hitting up a bot farm or something to create thousands of burner to ensure he would find his way back into the starting five. Sadly, that did not work as Durant still finds himself behind Paul George for that final frontcourt slot. Now that the updated results are in, let’s take a look
Eastern Conference
Frontcourt
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL), 3,626,909 votes
2. Kawhi Leonard (TOR), 2,882,227 votes
3. Joel Embiid (PHI), 2,292,511 votes
4. Jayson Tatum (BOS), 826,177 votes
5. Jimmy Butler (PHI), 740,778 votes
6. Blake Griffin (DET), 677,472 votes
7. Vince Carter (ATL), 423,795 votes
8. Pascal Siakam (TOR), 338,716 votes
9. Gordon Hayward (BOS), 336,47610 votes
10. Al Horford (BOS), 291,722 votes
No real major changes from the last version of these results. Tatum still has his sizable lead over Jimmy Butler. Pascal Siakam leaped over Hayward which I don’t really have a problem with, honestly he should even be one stop higher if we’re being honest.
Guards
1. Kyrie Irving (BOS), 3,187,015 votes
2. Dwyane Wade (MIA),1,738,043votes
3. Kemba Walker (CHA), 1,156,040 votes
4. Ben Simmons (PHI), 941,368 votes
5. Victor Oladipo (IND), 778,983 votes
6. Kyle Lowry (TOR), 708,071 votes
7. Zach LaVine (CHI), 440,568 votes
8. Jeremy Lin (ATL), 341,024 votes
9. Goran Dragic (MIA), 335,899 votes
10. Bradley Beal (WAS), 251,170 votes
Sadly, we did not see Kyrie catch Giannis. I know this was a long shot to begin with and something only Celtics fans wanted so he could take AD with his first pick and continue the recruiting process, so that’s a bummer. Unlike the frontcourt there was no change in the overall order, and once you get over that this is just a tribute thing for Wade, I don’t really have a problem with how the fans ended up.
Western Conference
Frontcourt
1. LeBron James (LAL) 3,770,807
2. Luka Don?i? (DAL) 3,301,825
3. Paul George (OKC) 2,583,342
4. Kevin Durant (GSW) 2,432,134
5. Anthony Davis (NOP) 2,091,770
6. Steven Adams (OKC) 1,483,223
7. Nikola Joki? (DEN) 1,128,766
8. Kyle Kuzma (LAL) 899,237
9. Draymond Green (GSW) 660,276
10. DeMarcus Cousins (GSW) 450,480
Another dream that that looks dead is Luka catching LeBron. That sounds crazy on paper but people are fucking crazy when it comes to Luka so you couldn’t rule it out. This is certainly a closer difference than anyone could have predicted. The big story here is the people have clearly spoken when it comes to Durant. He was about 1.1M votes short last time and nothing really changed. Seems like his burner investment is not really providing the best ROI and for a smart investor like KD, you hate to see that. The question now becomes since Kyrie isn’t going to be a captain, does LeBron take him? Everyone wants to take last night as the first step to them joining forces, so keep an eye on that.
Guards
1. Stephen Curry (GSW) 2,979,080
2. Derrick Rose (MIN) 2,712,938
3. James Harden (HOU) 2,315,093
4. Russell Westbrook (OKC) 2,090,432
5. Klay Thompson (GSW) 1,120,675
6. Damian Lillard (POR) 851,125
7. DeMar DeRozan (SAS) 850,415
8. Lonzo Ball (LAL) 764,892
9. Chris Paul (HOU) 419,410
10. Devin Booker (PHO) 405,432
Pretty crazy that Harden can have the stretch he’s currently on and still not catch DRose. I guess people really want to see Rose start the All Star game which even I can admit would be a cool story. As expected there was no change from the previous voting results, and I’m sure some Rockets fans are a little angry about it, but maybe next time get more fans to vote. There was a 2 for 1 day between the last round and today, you should have seen the results and acted accordingly. Good news is there’s one more deadline of January 21st to do something about it.
The big thing here though is how close DeRozan is coming to passing Dame. Both are having great years, but for a guy who always seems to get slighted when it comes to this thing, the people of Portland and Blazers fans everywhere need to show out for their franchise player.
We also learned that the All Star Draft will take place on February 7th, which is a pretty important day on the NBA calendar considering that’s the Trade Deadline. Clear your schedule now because that is going to be must watch stuff.
