Today In Foreign MMA: Spinning Backfists And Spear-Elbows From Hell
To give y’all a peek behind the curtain a bit before we get started here: one of our lessons today in Blogger School was to start up more running series here on the site. Being I love mixed martial arts to the extent I do, and follow enough accounts to sorta keep up with even the smallest, most obscure, foreign promotions, I think this’ll be one of mine. It won’t be daily, but I’ll try to fill y’all in on the sickest finishes and most blog-worthy moments as they come across my radar. If you see any, let me know!
First up, we got this UNBELIEVABLE spinning-backfist finish outta Brazil. Came out of nowhere, landed right on the button, and allowed the perfect opportunity for some ground and pound before the ref stepped in. Human beings being able to do shit like this terrifies me, to be honest, because anyone with eyes thinks, “Uh oh, homeboy’s in trouble!”, then he spins around like the Tasmanian Devil and the dude that was just advancing on him is looking up at the lights and seeing stars. God I hope I never accidentally get into a fight one day.
Secondly, and finally, this rare muay-thai standing spear-elbow KO, which I’m not sure I’ve ever seen before in my decade-plus of watching combat sports. I’ve been on a hell of a Game of Thrones kick recently, and this looks like something that I’d see in the middle of the Battle of Blackwater or something (a knife being in the attacker’s hand, though). Oh, and as always with knockouts like these – when they take place in the first exchange of the entire fight – you gotta feel for the dude who just put 4-6 weeks of hard, intense training and preparation into this moment…and then just got flatlined immediately. Tough.
