The New England Patriots Should Boycott The Super Bowl
To be transparent I want to first admit that I am from St. Louis and hate the Los Angeles Rams playing in the Super Bowl with every fiber of my being. An owner telling your hometown to eat shit and leaving only to be in a championship game within 3 years is one of the biggest nightmares a fan can have. Not only do you have to deal with people shitbagging the place you grew up every day, but you have to watch the city you got cucked by host playoff games where the opposing team gets louder cheers after a touchdown than the home team. And for everyone who thinks it could never happen to them, the New England Patriots were headed to St. Louis before Robert Kraft bought them in 1994.
By now you’ve seen the beaten-to-death egregious miscarriage of justice that occurred on Sunday afternoon. When the Rams got away with the most blatant instances of cheating and ref collusion that has ever graced football, just about the entire nation has banded together to encourage the NFL to make things right. It was very touching.
The governor of Louisiana has filed a formal complaint to the league, there are lawsuits, billboards, and petitions with hundreds of thousands of signatures.
I was hopeful that this inspiring outpouring of support for the truth would get the job done, but it is now Wednesday and nothing has happened yet. And as much as I support all of these efforts to restore righteousness to our country, only one thing will actually make a difference. The New England Patriots must boycott the Super Bowl until Comissioner Roger Goodell does what needs to be done and enacts Rule 17, Section 2, Article 1.
“SHUT UP YP DON’T EVER WRITE THE WORDS PATRIOTS EVER AGAIN!”
Wait just one second. Before you ban me from the state of Massachusetts for being an idiot, just hear me out. There are plenty of reasons Robert Kraft should command the Pats to boycott the Super Bowl.
Dave Portnoy (of Brady, Belichick, and Portnoy fame and standing) has said multiple times this week that this Super Bowl somewhat doesn’t even matter for Tom Brady’s legacy. He is undoubtedly the greatest quarterback of all time and I agree with Dave that winning another Super Bowl won’t make or break how history looks at him. So why not do something no one has done before and force Roger Goodell to bend the knee?
The Patriots don’t have anything to lose with the NFL. Goodell would literally rather see Kim Jong Un win a Super Bowl MVP for North Korea than have to kiss Tom Brady’s ass again. The Patriots ALSO don’t have anything to lose in the court of public opinion. Have you ever seen one of those graphs about who the country is rooting for? Every household except for literally Bill Belichick’s living room roots against them. They have the unique opportunity to be a team that exists outside of the bounds of society. The Patriots answer to nobody. Its legendary to go to 9 Super Bowls in 17 full seasons, but its even MORE legendary to be so powerful that you can see something wrong and cause the largest professional sports league in the United States grind to a halt until its fixed.
