The Oldest Rabbit In The World Lives In Chicago And Is Mobbed Up

BERWYN, Ill. — A rabbit living in suburban Berwyn is now a Guinness World Record holder. Mick celebrated his 16th birthday on Feb. 9, making him the world’s oldest living rabbit. “He is not only the oldest rabbit I’ve ever known but also one of the sweetest angels out there,” his owner said in a Facebook post. “He’s accepted every setback as he’s aged with a positive attitude and he doesn’t seem to be giving up anytime soon.” The oldest living rabbit ever was Flopsy from Australia. Flopsy lived for nearly 19 years.

Even tho Flopsy’s dead I’m going to ask Flopsy to step aside. There’s a new Rabbit Sheriff in town and it’s Mick from Berwyn.

rabbit1For uninitiated, Berwyn known as an extremely potent area for organized crime going back like 100 years or something. Their official seal is a picture of a guy having his knees broken. So don’t rule out fraudulent certificates or general funny business on behalf of this mobbed up Rabbit. I would be surprised if they had someone on the inside at Guiness BOWR working as a “consultant” if you know what I mean.

And whether he is or isn’t mobbed up, I think we can all admit 16 years is a LONG time for a pet. I did some homework and turns out rabbits have evolved at a stunning pace since becoming domesticated 35 years ago:

And not to scare you guys but I have a wild theory. Again don’t be scared: Rabbits now live about 300% longer which means they are building bigger brains with more experiences which should make them smarter and grow their brains over time. Bigger brains = Smarter rabbits = more competition in the animal kingdom = let’s rock and roll

I would love to hunt a smarter rabbit. Something quick and nimble that could anticipate my moves but at the same time still be adorable AF. Too smart for a carrot/stick but not smart enough to evade a wide-spray shotgun blast.

PS – Congrats Mick
