SHUT IT DOWN: Jon Taffer Is Currently Rescuing A Bar In Philly
DRINKPHILLY – You’ll recall Philly served as the backdrop for some of Bar Rescue’s most popular episodes with Taffer taking on the the very troubled Downey’s Irish Pub and now defunct Swanky Bubbles in the show’s first season. A tipster tells Drink Philly that Bar Rescue is currently in the throes of revamping Lickity Split and will debut the new concept to the public with a stress test on Thursday evening beginning at 8:30 PM. Stop by if you’re curious and see if you can cash in on your 15 minutes of fame.
Lickety Split, eh? Haven’t been there in about 2 years but we’ve spent a few nights there for better or (mostly) worse. The drinks were drinks, the food was meh (drunk pizza is drunk pizza) and the crowd wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. They also held open mic nights upstairs where the TV’s were still blaring, but can’t win ‘em all. It’s a dive-y type spot that definitely could be better, especially with it’s location, but is it really in need to be rescued? Is Taffer getting swindled into upgrading a bar for the fuck of it? Possibly. But then again it wouldn’t surprise me if this place was on the brink of going tits up. There is literally no excuse to go out of your way to go there.
Just a damn shame Jon Taffer couldn’t rescue careers in all walks of life. Bloggers? More like Sloggers.
