Dirk Nowitzki Officially Passes Wilt Chamberlain On The All Time Scoring List Despite Having Way Less Sex

New Orleans Pelicans v Dallas Mavericks

Pretty emotional night in the NBA last night and a major reason for that was the history we saw in Dallas. It was pretty much a forgone conclusion that Dirk was going to eventually pass Wilt once he got within striking distance, and the hope I’m sure was that he was going to find a way to do it at home in front of the people who’ve watched him his whole career. After falling a little short the other night at home against CLE after he missed his final 5 shots, he had another chance to do it at home last night against the Pelicans and he certainly didn’t waste much time. It’s pretty awesome that the bucket to place him into 6th was a classic Dirk jumper, and while it wasn’t his patented one legged fadeaway, it was pretty damn close to vintage Dirk. Hard to imagine that this guy

Now has 31,424 points and counting. Now he is only 868 points behind Jordan, but I think that’s a little aggressive even if Dirk does come back next season so if this is where he ends up it’s still one hell of a HOF career. Anytime you pass Wilt in anything it’s a big deal in my opinion. It’s how I felt with Harden’s 30 point streak and I have the same line of thinking here. What Wilt did in his day was so utterly ridiculous, and given how I obviously never saw him play I always wondered how he was able to do it. How could anyone put up such monster numbers on that consistent of a basis? Don’t give me the era he played in and how he was matched up with slow white guys, that’s not it.

The only logical conclusion I could come to was he found some sort of secret sauce buried deep in all the banging he did. What do they say, he had sex with 10,000 women or something like that? You can’t convince me that all that banging wasn’t a performance enhancer. Imagine how much better you feel once you get the poison out of your body, how clear your mind is and how much better you can focus. It’s why you probably jerked off before a big exam or job interview. It is a proven fact that men perform better in society once they JJO. Well that’s how Wilt lived his life on a permanent basis. You combine his physical dominance with a brain that has permanent post nut clarity and it’s no surprise he had the success that he did.

Which for me is what makes Dirk’s achievement that much more impressive because he certainly does not have 10,000 notches on his belt. He had to do it the hard way, through hard work. Boring, but effective. This is a guy who came in and did not wow anybody right away, he averaged just 8 points a game on 40/20% splits as a rookie and it was fair to question just what exactly the Mavs had done taking him so high in the draft. But in the end he turned out to be one of the best players in league history, an NBA champion, one of the best European players of all time, and a player that literally everyone loves. If you don’t love Dirk you’re an asshole, and that’s not something you see every day with a player of his status.

I’ve been pretty open about how I want Dirk to play at least one more year, and hopefully now that he has this achievement he gets crazy and decides he wants to go after MJ after all rather than hang em up.

Ah shit, it’s early, let’s fire up the highlights one more time
