Pretty Sure The Actor Who Plays Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish On GOT Completely Debunked One Of The Most Common Fan Theories

Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish, played by Irish actor Aidan Gillen, was a fan favourite on HBO’s Game of Thrones until his demise at the hands of Arya and Sansa Stark in the final episode of the seventh season, ‘The Dragon and the Wolf’.
As a character who managed to outsmart almost everyone in the series, some fans have speculated that he may not actually be dead at all – despite having his throat cut on screen.
However, in an interview on Today Extra on Thursday, just weeks out from the premiere of the final season, Gillen let slip a detail that may blow the fan theory out of the water.
Now the whole Arya/Many Faced God story line is incredibly complex, and while watching in real time it’s easy to assume Arya is very much alive and could be sitting her ass on the Irone Throne at the series’ end.
But one of the popular fan theories of the show is that Arya is not actually alive – that she’s dead, and died in the scene below at the hands of the Waif:
Now assuming Arya is alive and well is easy to do, because she’s in much of the remainder of the series. Or is she?
Now this is where the theory can pivot in 2 separate directions:
1. Arya, who has experience fighting the Waif without eyes, guts The Waif like a fish and is on her way back home to Winterfell to meet up with Jon and Sansa. She was blinded for failing an earlier assignment by the Many Faced God, remember? This is the assumption that the writers *maybe* want you to make.
OR (and this is the fun part)
2. The Waif actually kills Arya. It’s absolutely plausible. I mean think about it – we just assume Arya emerges victorious because she is obviously cast throughout the rest of the show. But we never *actually* see Arya and the Waif sword fight. All we see is the Waif start to charge Arya and Arya cutting the candle in half, with the scene fading to black like the last episode of the Sopranos:
This would mean the Waif is now using Arya’s face and posing as her throughout the rest of the series. And that Arya Stark is dead as a goddamn doornail. And that it wasn’t *actually* Arya Stark who slit Petyr Baelish’s throat:
And that Petyr Baelish might *actually* be in cahoots with a Faceless Man and that the whole Arya killing Littlefinger scene was one big scam and nobody knows it… yet It’s just the Many Faced God and his little side bitch The Waif playing everyone.
All completely plausible. And if you’re still not convinced, there are YouTube videos breaking down this exact theory extremely in depth.
But… Aiden Gillen claiming he is approached “10x a day while in public” by people asking him what happens at the end of the series and him replying “I don’t know… I haven’t been on the show in 2 years” COMPLETELY debunks this theory. He’d have had to have continued being filmed after his death, because he’s actually alive. Unless… Unless Aiden Gillen is just playing coy. I choose to believe he just instinctively ran his mouth without thinking about it, but that part is up for debate.
Needless to say, we all need April 14th to get here immediately.
