The Phoenix Rising FC Is Now 10-0-0 On $1 Beer Night
Talk about sabermetrics. I don’t care that this is the second tier of American soccer. This could be lacrosse, cricket, or four square. When you see a stat like this, gamblers ears all over the world perk up. Anything that happens 10 straight times without losing is no longer a coincidence. We call this a TREND. And the fact that this team is only 3-5-2 this season means that the Phoenix Rising FC is not very good. They’re certainly not winning games because of their superior skill on the soccer field. The only reason this team wins games is because of their drunken fans filling the stadium on $1 beer nights. And fill the stadium they did, for their 8th straight sellout.
Who sells out a second tier soccer league game in America? Good soccer is tough to watch. I can’t even imagine what bad soccer looks like. But I’d go to anything for $1 beers. I mean, I go to Happy Hour at the bar when they run $3 drink specials. And I usually have to Uber to get there. But the Phoenix FC doesn’t want you to have deal with that mess either. Instead, they run a Pub to Pitch shuttle for FREE.
Am I reading this correctly that they send a shuttle to 20 different pubs to pick up fans for free? And then they bring them to $1 beer night? This team GETS IT. Because right now, I’d rather sit on my couch and watch an NFL game than go to it. It costs a couple hundred for a ticket, a million to park, and a billion to go to the concession stand. Or you can sit on your couch and enjoy your own ice cold bottle of beer that you can get from the grocery store for around…..$1 each. This is a no brainer. I might hop on the next flight to Arizona and just drink at the Phoenix FC games from now on. Save some money. Or maybe instead of that, the rest of American sports teams could start respecting their fans a little better when it comes to beer prices. I can guarantee you there’s a correlation between beer prices and attendance. And apparently there’s a correlation between beer prices and winning. But let’s just make sure everyone keeps it at $1 beer night. Anything less and the fans may get out of control. The Cleveland Indians tried a 10 cent beer night back in 1974 and, well……it didn’t turn out so good.
