Klay Thompson Was None Too Pleased When He Learned Of His All NBA Snub

Few guys had a tougher break than Klay Thompson with today’s All NBA selections. It’s really him and Bradley Beal. Klay lost about $30M+ as a result of this year’s selections which has to sting and you could see his reaction when he heard the name Kemba Walker as someone who made it over him. Eye roll city. That’s not to say Kemba isn’t deserving, he had a career year, but obviously Klay thinks that’s a joke. Klay is one of the most level headed stars in the league and I feel like he’s the type of guy that never gets mad over anything so to see him bothered like this was pretty shocking. I would love to know how he really feels because you could tell he was being extra careful in his responses and I have a feeling it’s juicy. He’s not lying when he says he’d rather win a ring than make 3rd Team All NBA and they’ll probably win it so in the end he’s still going to be a 4 time champ and get a max offer from someone. Life could certainly be worse.

The real dig is when he was asked about stuff like this impacting contracts. You could tell he really wanted to go off on that and honestly the whole thing is a bit silly. You have media guys throwing players like Wade and Marvin Bagley All NBA votes which is just stupid. I don’t know how they can adjust this system to make it more “fair”, but having the media be solely responsible seems like a bad idea. Maybe give players 50% of the vote or something? Only problem there I guess would be guys would just vote for their friends if they new a massive bag was at stake. But the fact that you can currently be a media guy and hold a grudge against someone and it could potentially cost that person TENS OF MILLIONS seems kinda fucked up. Either don’t pair contracts with these type of achievements or find a way to bring in some NBA people to vote on it. I’m sure players wouldn’t have a problem if it was more like the All Star voting but I doubt it’ll ever change.

But hey, at least Klay made 2nd Team All Defense, and again, he’s probably going to win another ring so I doubt he loses any sleep over this.
