ABCNewsWrapping paper that contains a swastika pattern in the trim is being recalled from stores nationwide after an outraged California shopper noticed it. Cheryl Shapiro was shopping in a Walgreen’s store on Dec. 4 in Northridge, California, when she stopped to look at some rolls of gift wrap. As the former interior designer gazed at them, her eyes widened at a blue and silver roll, noticing the swastikas engraved in it design. “It blew me away,” Shapiro told ABC News. “What the hell was that doing on there?”… “I said, ‘I want it out of the store, but I wanted this to go national. I want this out of the stores nationally,'” Shapiro told ABC News.

Boom. Swastika all up in your face. You’re gonna have to be a lot more sneaky than that, Walgreens. Because when you have former interior designer Cheryl Shapiro patrolling the streets, you best believe that no swastikas are going down on her watch. Seriously though, Cheryl Shapiro might be my least favorite human in the United States of America right now. You ever meet a designer? They’re insufferable to be around. They always have to point out every little detail in everything and tell you about how they would make it better. They never shut up about it. And this is such a Cheryl thing to do. To find the most harmless swastika there ever was a make a giant fuss about it because she used to be a designer and she has an eye for detail. You’re damn right she wanted this to go national. This is Cheryl’s big break. This is where she wins over the entire interior designer community and proves her worth to the design world. We can’t be living in a world where sneaky swastikas go by unnoticed. And luckily we have Cheryl here as our protector. She may not be the designing hero that we deserve, but she is certainly the designing hero that we need.

And if this swastika wasn’t actually just a slight oversight which it appears to be, well then hats off to Walgreens for at least trying.
