The Dalai Lama Is Being Canceled By Twitter For Saying A Female Dalai Lama Should Be Attractive
(Source)–The Dalai Lama, the exiled spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, and the 14th person to hold the title, made waves this week when he said his successor, if a woman, needs to be physically attractive.
“You once said that you would be open to a female successor,” BBC News reporter Rajini Vaidyanathan asked the religious leader, in a video interview published Thursday on Twitter.
“That’s also possible,” the Dalai Lama confirmed.
“You also told one of my colleagues that, that female must be attractive, otherwise it’s not much use,” she continued. “…Can you see why that comment upset a lot of women?”
The Dalai Lama answered, “If a female Dalai Lama comes, she should be more attractive.” If not, “people, I think prefer, not see her, that face.”
The reporter asked, “It’s about who you are inside, isn’t it?”
“Yes, I think both,” he said. “Real beauty is inner beauty, that’s true. But we’re human beings. I think the appearance is also important.”
The religious leader also suggested that most people would prefer not to look at a “dead face” and argued that women in the public eye should wear makeup.
When I first saw the quote about the Dalai Lama saying that a female Lama would have to be attractive and the subsequent outrage on twitter I was convinced that this was a misquote. That the Dalai Lama was taken out of context. I was sure that he meant more like the “law of attraction” and not actual physical attractiveness. But…NOPE. The Lama didn’t leave much guess work when he said that nobody wants to look at a “dead face”. So yeah, as you can imagine, people were not thrilled

And you know what…I understand where they’re coming from. What does being hot have to do with enlightenment? How could the Dalai Lama, the leader of spiritual enlightenment be so shallow? #MenAreTrash amiright?
Then the more I thought about it, I began to realize one incontrevertible fact…I am not the Dalai Lama. I have never thought about how a Lama should be or look. The Dalai Lama has probably done nothing but think about what it means to be a Lama and what a peak Lama would look like. Who am I to tell him that he’s wrong? Maybe the Lama just realizes that sex sells. Everything is sex. And maybe the people would be more inclined to listen to a Lama who they want to fuck. That might just be a simple fact of life. It’s something that many major religions have been adopting since the begining time

So maybe the Lama is actually onto something here. Maybe he is looking to grow the faith and perhaps he realizes that humans are flawed creatures and are more likely to follow their dicks to enlightenment than their souls and that was his motivation. Or maybe he’s just horny. I really can’t say.
